In a effort to streamline things a bit in 2011 I’ve decided to thin out the “Bussi herd” in our shop as 1., I need to reclaim space for an upcoming *(non VW related) project and 2., I’ve got little (if any) free-time in the foreseeable future to honestly set aside to finish projects I last worked on 10 years ago.

For Volksfolks with young ones toddling around - the title for this post should incite an immediate replay of Elmo singing his Aria - Wheels on the bus. For the rest of you.. Rest assured, one day.. :-)

Our “almost” 2 year old Brianna has been on an extended sleep-over at a friends place for the last few days giving Nate and I a bunch of productive time to work in the partsbin warehouse, organize stuff and rework the website to accommodate incoming VW and Porsche Inventory. We’re still a way off from offering the plethora of bits you’d find on mamworks or even the busdepot but, we’ve got steam..

VW Parts now online..sheesh!

We’re back up, new shipping rates are being implemented as I type. Currently, there’s one carrier option for both domestic US and International –USPS. `Fraid the Post Office -IS- the most reliable carrier we offer for now. Special weight/size requirements will be quoted on an item by item basis so, if you’ve found an item that’s marked “oversized or overweight” please use the request more info -BEFORE- you try to checkout and send us your physical mailing address so we can work up an exact shipping cost.

What appeared to be a relatively sedate software update *(our online VW parts store) has turned out to be a more dynamic rebuild from the ground up so to speak. The “Partsbin” will remain in browse mode for another few days while I work through the eventual shift to a more stable ecommerce platform. That said, we appreciate the emails and requests for features (most specifically a reliable and accurate “shipping” function) which, I’m happy to say, is “in the works”.

Bookmarkers UPDATE: Due to the upcoming “shift”, if you’ve currently bookmarked or added items to your shopping cart(s) those items will be return invalid item id’s when we go live with the new store. These items will be available in the new store where you may reselect/add2cart if you wish.

We’ve disabled the check-out/shopping-cart in our partsbin for the next day or so as we continue to update with newer, old inventory. Feel free to browse, search our stock and, by all means, if there’s a part or item you need, use our request form to send us a message (Be as specific about the part/item you’re looking for, e.g. VW Part Numbers always help..) We -should- be back to normal store operations soon, thanks for your patience.

Over the next few days we’ll be updating the partsbin with new inventory, fixing issues (again) with our shipping modules and generally tearing the whole (&*^* website apart and rebuilding. So, pardon the dust!

Summer’s Here. School’s Out!

Last year summer was a bus(t) but, this year we’ve got new motivation and drive. Meet Nate, the newest Busboner and head bottle-washer around the boneyard. We’ve spent the last week getting his laptop loaded with the tools he’ll be using to create and maintain the partsbin inventory. Got questions? You’ll get a response back from him within 24 hours.

It’s a bit cold (uncommonly so) this week. `Fraid that it’s taking a toll on our inventory gathering and picture taking of the new batch of old VW parts we’re readying for busbones.

Neither my fingers or our cameras seem to function properly under 30degrees ambient and, as the garage is open at both ends, it’s downright frigid in there. Did manage to get bits shipped to folks ordering last week (Thanks for your patience, you know who you are:-) and, as soon as the cold snap subsides this time next week we should be back up to speed with orders and deliveries.

While browsing for an appropriate VW Halloween themed photo to illustrate our post I came across this “I want one” accessory.. Well, it IS kinda “orangey, pumpkin’ish”.
