Steel Skid plate(s) pair. mount via lower engine studs. Found as optional accessory on 1972,1973 VW Things. Can be installed on most 1600 single and dual port engines. Great for Sand Rail or Dune Buggy use too!
In the detail shot you'll note a degree of flaking. While oxidized, the flaking is not metal decomposition but rather the flaking of the existing painted covering. It's thick and appears to be remnants of a protective plastic or perhaps enamel coating. |
